About Snoot

We adopted Snoot from Silver Frost Rodentry to be friends with Sprocket and Buzzle. We met him at 2 weeks of age when we photographed him and his littermates for The Dapper Rat Calendar 2012. We had to name him before we could bring him home and get to know him well. So we decided on a photographic name (a snoot is a tube used on a flash unit to direct the light) and also because the photos we got of him were mostly of his fuzzy nose (or snoot).

Snoot (aka Snooty, Snoot The Cute, Big Snoot) was a charming, easy going, sweet natured rat. He grew into a huge rat, both large and squishy. He had a gorgeous thick fur and smelled like a big furry corn chip. He was without doubt the best licker I've ever known... as soon as you scratched his side he would grab hold of your hand and lick madly, clinging on so you couldn't get away.

He struggled with myco most of his life and it finally took him, way too young. He was a lap rat, a cuddler, and it's hard to imagine the cage without his whiskery face poking out of this favourite hammock. Farewell Snooty.
